IELTS Academci Reading Tip.

The best IELTS tip I'd like to share today is about IELTS Academic Reading Test:

In the IELTS Academic Reading Test, I think the best strategy is to first quickly read the passage.  While you're doing this, to get the 'gist' of the passage, you should look out for and identify the following features:-

  • what is the topic?
  • what style is the passage written in?
  • where do you think the passage came from?  (e.g. a scientific journal, a business magazine)
  • what is the writer trying to do?  What is his/her purpose? (e.g. to inform, to persuage etc)
  • who is the writer writing for?  Who is his/her intended reader?  (e.g  a university student, the head of a multinational corporation)

Identifying these features will put you in the best position to answer the questions in the Academic Reading Test.

Best IELTS tip of the day.

Here's another one of my best IELTS tips:

Make sure you use every second in the IELTS Listening Test to your advantage.  After each section finishes, there is often a pause.  Use this pause to read through the next set of questions so that you know what to listen for when the next section begins.

Best IELTS tip of the day.

Here's another of my best IELTS tips for the IELTS Listening Test.

Make sure you don't stop listening until the recording stops.  You must concentrate; you're only going to hear this once!  Also, only look at the questions that relate to the part being played.  Forget about the previous question that you didn't know how to answer - let it go!

Here's one of my best IELTS tips I'd like to share with you:

When you're doing the IELTS Listening Test, make sure you use the example at the beginning of the first section to  familarise yourself with the situation and the speakers.  Don't just 'zone out'; carefully listening to the example can really help you.
